Witnessing to others

How do you witness to others? Well there is no one single way to witness to be honest. Paul said

1 Corinthians 9:19-23

Paul’s Use of His Freedom

19 Though I am free and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. 20 To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. 21 To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not having the law. 22 To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some. 23 I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.

So then does that mean that you need to be sinful to be all things to all people? No but it does mean you need to study how Christ, the apostles and Paul witnessed to different groups. You will find that they tended to be the hardest on those who were suppose to know better. They were hardest on the spiritual leaders of their day. When reading ask yourself these questions who was the audience? What was the message? How was the message presented? Who presented the message? How was the message received?

You also have to be pretty well versed in the word. It is hard to have a answer if you don't know scripture. So read, study it and then read it some more. Paul told Timothy:

2 Timothy 2

14 Remind them of these things, and solemnly charge them in the presence of God not to wrangle about words, which is useless and leads to the ruin of the hearers. 15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. 16 But avoid worldly and empty chatter, for it will lead to further ungodliness

Don't expect your first times to go smoothly. In fact don't expect to get any of the same kind of results they did all the time. Not everyone is going to want to hear what you have to say. Not everyone is going to receive it well. IN fact you probably are going to be attacked at least verbally by some. But each time you witness you learn something. You find new questions being asked of you or things said to you that you have to search the scriptures to answer. You find new perspectives even from enemies. Each time you gain experience and knowledge to answer others in the future. Do not worry if no one seems to listen or even hear your message. The ones meant to hear it will hear it. Not all of us see plants. Some of us like me just plant seeds. Some of us water those seeds, others give those seeds fertilizer and still others get to see those seeds sprout. So do not give up just because your not the one who gets to see them sprout. Paul told the Corinthians:

1 Corinthians 3

6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. 7 So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. 8 He who plants and he who waters are one, and eachwill receive his wages according to his labor. 9 For we are God's fellow workers. You are God's field, God's building.
