Is satan real?

Satan is described in the bible as many things. He is the serpent spoken of in Eden in Genesis 3. He is called the dragon spoken of in Revelation 12. He was the accuser of Job in Job 1. He is the lion spoken of in 1 Peter 5.He is called the ruler of this world in 2 Corinthians 4:4 His character is one of lying in John 8:44 and tempting others like he did to job in chapter one of job and Christ in Matthew 4..

What does he look like? Like many angels he can change shape and appear as a angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14) but his original form is described in Ezekiel 28.

Ezekiel 28

11 The word of the Lord came to me: 12 “Son of man, take up a lamentconcerning the king of Tyre and say to him: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lordsays:

“‘You were the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. 13 You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone adorned you: carnelian, chrysolite and emerald, topaz, onyx and jasper, lapis lazuli, turquoise and beryl.[b] Your settings and mountings[c] were made of gold; on the day you were created they were prepared. 14 You were anointed as a guardian cherub, for so I ordained you. You were on the holy mount of God; you walked among the fiery stones. 15 You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created till wickedness was found in you. 16 Through your widespread trade you were filled with violence, and you sinned. So I drove you in disgrace from the mount of God, and I expelled you, guardian cherub, from among the fiery stones. 17 Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor. So I threw you to the earth; I made a spectacle of you before kings. 18 By your many sins and dishonest trade you have desecrated your sanctuaries. So I made a fire come out from you, and it consumed you, and I reduced you to ashes on the ground in the sight of all who were watching. 19 All the nations who knew you are appalled at you; you have come to a horrible end and will be no more.’”

Now I am aware that many Christians do not believe he is real. But if you truly believe in God then you have to believe in the angels He created as well. There are numerous warning about Satan but it says that we are to

James 4:7 (NIV)

7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

and put on the

Ephesians 6:10-18 (NIV)

The Armor of God

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God,so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvationand the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.With this in mind, b1 John 4 e alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

So yes Satan exists. But God is more powerful it says

1 John 4

4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

Do we need to fear Satan and see him every where and in everything? No because we as humans are just as capable of being sinful all on our own. So trust in God, resist temptation and put on the armor of God. We need not fear Satan for God created him and God is greater then he is.
